If a guest doesn’t observe house rules (No smoking and cigarette burns) and leaves the place dirty ( eg unwashed crockery and cutlery put away in cupboards, etc), dirty floors and work surfaces, old food left out. should a superhost leave a bad review or just not leave a review? It’s a quandary about being responsible to other hosts v receiving a poor review in revenge.
@Branka-and-Silvia0 I have contacted airbnb myself in order to get bookings cancelled because it turned out to be third party bookings. They didn't penalise me in any way. So I don't understand your approach and please don't call me naive with a laugh it is rather insulting!
Yes, I canceled third party bookings as well and wasn't penalized (nor paid for it of course) but that was a year ago... since January Airbnb has a new experiment going on and they turn off your instant booking option for 3 weeks if you cancel or if Airbnb cancels on your request for ANY reason, valid or not.
This is not officially announced anywhere but if you browse this forum you will find numerous posts about it.
@Branka-and-Silvia0 Yes, I'm aware of that ridiculous change. But I would still do the same. I can only play by the book I don't see any other options as I don't want any third party bookings in my home. I would also always make sure to review a rotten guest in order to warn future hosts.
If that is naive please let me be naive.
What's a third party booking?
@Roddy4 Yes, I'm aware of that 🙂 I have had a couple of bookings booked through instant book which turned out to be third party bookings. Airbnb do cancel those bookings. Just call. If they show up on your door step also just call airbnb. Those third party guests could completely trash my home etc. and airbnb would not help me in any way.
@Roddy4, you should always leave reviews for bad guests. I have said this so many times - we hosts only have each other to rely on as we have no other way of knowing who we are letting into our homes (trust me, Airbnb doesn't care one iota). We have to have each other's backs. Guests cannot see your review until they have left one (or until the 14-day period has passed) so you should never fear a retaliatory review, and if you do get a bad review, you have the opportunity to leave feedback. As for 3rd party bookings, well, that is against ABB policy - you could have mentioned that in your review too.
We had guests that checked out yesterday and left the apartment like a garbage dump.
Normally we clean our apartment for 2 hours. Yesterday we had more than 6 hours to clean everything.
I think it's very important to post a bad review of this guests, to let other hosts know that they better not should take them!
My problem that I don't always clean after my guests, I have cleaners, so I don't always know how the house looks after they leave.
My guests left the house disgudting, popcorn all over the floors, moved my furniture, dirt everywhere, took me 4 hours to get it clean.
