Hosting and verifying check in

Hosting and verifying check in

Hey everyone,

I am hoping to get some advise from someone please!

I have my guest checking in next week and I have requested for them to scan over a copy of their passport or driving license so I can verify them on check in and be sure that I am handing over the keys to the correct person. They keep on ignoring me. Is there anyway I am able to get a copy of their ID from Air Bnb and if not, what should I do?

Thanks,

Lauren

Hello @Lauren200,

There isn't a way to get a copy of a guest's government ID from Airbnb.

If their profile photo doesn't show their face you can ask them to send you a recent photo.

As you have instant book turned on you can, for future reservations, require that guests can't book instantly unless they have uploaded government issued ID to Airbnb. To do this you must have uploaded a photo of such ID youself.

Trust is a two way thing. You say that you hand over the keys on check in. How will the guest know that they're getting the keys from the host and not someone who's giving them without the host's permission? Your profile photo doesn't allow the guest the comfort and assurance that they're dealing with the host.

Steve.

Hi @Steve143,

Thank you for your reply and the information provided below.

I have just realised this myself, so will be altering that in due course. I wasnt aware of this feature when setting up the account and I understand where you are coming from, thanks again!

Lauren
