Has anyone had this experience ?

My Airbnb account was breached a couple of days ago. My profile details were hacked and altered which meant I could not access my account. Furthermore , when I became aware of this I was unable to gain any effective support from Airbnb because I could not authenticate myself on their surpport system. 

This resulted in my account being frozen and removed from the site. Airbnb then cancelled all my bookings and refunded all the clients.

This was done without any dialogue with myself and until now I have been unable to gather any justification from Airbnb. 

 

The impact and implications ,I feel , are very significant despite the silence from Airbnb.

 

1 -It was their system that was breached . I do not believe that my attack was a one-off isolated incident personally directed at my ? - no comment from Airbnb.

 

2 -I have had approx 25,000 euros worth of bookings cancelled by Airbnb,who is going to recompense me for that  - again, Airbnb do not address that.

 

3- I had enquiries for unknowm properties in other parts of the world and of which I have no knowledge - Airbnb say nothing of that.

 

4 -Today I still received another phone enquiry from a disgruntled "client" in South Africa for an unknown(to me)property - why do they have my phone          number Airbnb?

 

I have repeatedly tried to seek support from the Airbnb "support" system - it is totally ineffective unless maybe your issue complies with a profile. 

 

Can I hear from fellow hosts please ?

 

If anyone from Airbnb is interested - my case number was ** - you closed the ticket ,with all its implications of fraud and security, as a "password reset" issue.
