Okay, so I've noticed that frequently, I get asked things clearly listed on my profile either immediately after booking or after arrival. I don't mind answering, because that's just part of the deal, but sometimes it's a bit silly- for example, People booking and then asking me what the address is, or where the parking garage is, even though it's in the description AND in the guide book. In fact, It seems like no one *ever* reads the house manual or even most of the detailed description. Any ideas?
Unfortunaley this is just a reality. People dont read. I just accept the fact and have a pile of preprepared responses which I cut and paste into messages
Kind of related - check out this article about a very successful host in Brooklyn. He wrote something years ago, it was something like "how to be a successful guest" and I think the first thing was "read the description!!!"
There is absolutely nothing you can do about this. People don't read the listing description, don't read the House Manual, don't read the House Rules, and don't the read the Host Directions to help with their arrival.
I have NEVER received a query from a guest that isn't answered in my listing description. It's annoying. What I usually do is refer them back to the listing and suggest they read it thoroughly.
@Mathew0 I've been testing a new idea to get guests to actually read the house manual and I thought I'd share it here. I hate reading long and boring manuals too so I symphathise with guests that don't.
I like the idea of sticky notes in relevant places but I hate splattering my place with notes so I built a way to create digital sticky notes that guests can view around my house whenever they need information. I can basically share it with my guests as an app they can use to look around my house and access all the information I need them to see.
Here's a link to it. Check it out and if you want to try it, let me know.
