I had a guest who cancelled but I decided to give the full refund.

I have a strict cancellation policy but I decided to be kind and approve a full refund. However, I got an email from airbnb saying that the amount will be deducted from the next payout. I am very surprised it will not be taken from the booking itself. In other words I pay money for a guest to cancel, and I receive it only when the guest is supposed to check-in. I do not understand the rationale. If airbnb is holding the amount, when should I pay first?

@Eugene3 This goes under the phrase "No good deed goes unpunished." This has always been AirBNB's policy and it doesn't work that well in my opinion. You are refunding money that you have NEVER received.

I wrote to Airbnb Help Centre and fortunately I was assured that they would not be deducting my money. Apparently the problem was with the automated email that was not accurate, and it makes the incorrect assumption that I have already received the money. In any case, the feedback has been noted, and escalated and should be rectified as soon as possible.

@Eugene3 That is encouraging indeed!

Hi

I  got the request  for refunding , from my guest, after he had cancelled the  booking. Even it was in the period of 48  hours, and he got his 50% according to the  cancelation policy, he wants all.

It does not  bother me too much, especially after Eugene's experience, i decided not to  refund the rest. What  bothers me mor is the text that I received from Air bnb  together with  guest's request and it is : Your guest is requesting additional payment for an issue related to their Korčula trip. You have until Sat, May 18, 2019 at 10:22 AM CEST to respond to this request. Hosts with multiple unresolved requests like this one may be subject to review.

Even the guest is aware of cancelation policy  and requests something against te rules, we as a hosts are about to  be punished, ie subject to review because guest decide to  get  back  his money against the rules.

This IS NOT FAIR AIRBNB
