I just discovered, heirlooms/jewellery missing. The last time I saw these pieces was over the summer

I've host a number of guests since then (this summer) and cannot say who the culprit could be. I am aware that Air BnB doesn't cover this kind of loss, but I wonder if they can cross reference guests with other such occurances/complaints.

The pieces stolen (I've looked everywhere) were on a dresser, in a case, in a box, in my bedroom, that the guest would have needed to enter, rifle through and take. "They" left other pieces of just as valuable pieces behind, but emptied all the boxes with the rings!

I am sad about this experience, having invited these people into my home and having shared my space with them!

Any advice about what my recourse could be?

I am sorry you have had this experience, but I doubt there is anything you can do now. You could put a lock on your door and leave the room locked for future protection. Many hosts do.

Other than filing a claim with your own insurance, there doesn't seem much recourse to be had.

Like the person above me mentioned, you should probably install a lock on your bedroom door.  We have one on our master bedroom to prevent guests from entering when we are not home.

You could report it to the Police, I doubt they would be interested.
