I need some advice.

I had a guest stay in my home last weekend which I accepted due to fairly good reviews. He arrived at the house, supposidly from out of town ,with no luggage. He left the house 3 days later in fair condition but when I arrived home, the doors had been left unlocked and the house wreaked of marijuana. Im afraid to give a bad review in fear that he might retaliate via a bad airBnB review or even worse, come back to my house for god-knows what. What do you think I should do?

@Christina213 Leave an honest review.  Your guest won't see your review until he reviews you or at the end of the 14 day window for writing a reviews.  Review are blind so neither knows what the other has written beforehand.  This prevents exactly what you fear.

My advice would be to say that the guest smoked in your place and leave it at that.  If the guest menaces you in anyway you can report him to Airbnb's Trust and Safety team by flagging his user profile.  Keep all messages on Airbnb so T & S can read them.

Hope this helps!

Reviews are usually double blind. Neither you nor your guest can see your reviews until you both submit.

Therefore you should leave an honest review without fear of retaliation.

Marijuana smell left in the room is very important to other hosts.

It shows bad judgment and disrespect.

More importantly with a quick turnover, marijuana smell is difficult to purge.

In your review keep it light and non judgemental.

"Room was left reeking of marijuana" or

"The marijuana smell left was diffiicult to clear for the next guests"

As for inflaming him to do you violence, most marijuana users are inured to criticism of their drug usage.

It will not shock him.

Good luck
