Inappropriate review from a guest

My most recent guest wrote a nice review, but I'm not sure how to respond to "Samantha is a loveing and passionated  lady. I recommend a stay at her house.”

It makes me sound like a hooker, (which my friends find hilarious) when I'm actually a 70 year old grandmother and haven't shared my bed for 20 years and have no intention of doing so.

I'm sure he didn't mean it to come across like that, but do you think AirBNB can delete it or  how should I respond?

Thanks

Samantha

Hi @Samantha45 I hope you are well!

You don't seem to reply to all of your reviews, so not replying to this one would be fine.

I think most sensible guests looking at your reviews could sense that English isn't the first language of this guest, and would get the sense of what he was trying to convey- that you're caring and compassionate :))

Another guest of yours mentioned their stay being intimate- which again, I think readers will understand the actual meaning, I'm sure they don't need deleting or worrying about...it's the negative ones that cause concern to most hosts!

Paul 🙂

Thank you!

Funnily enough a friend (whose first language IS English) said this morning that she took it at face value - that I am a loving person and that I am passionate about my passions, such as animal welfare 🙂

@Samantha45, I don't read that necessarily as being sexual in nature. To me, it reads as though they found you to be a very lovely, kind lady. Does the person speak English natively? Maybe they meant compassionate?

I would simply respond very simply with something like, "Thank you again for your stay. Happy travels to you."

I don't think Airbnb will view it as something they will take down and I would pick my battles. Also, if you were to mention anything in your public response, it will only draw attention to it.

Thanks John!

As I said to Paul, a friend said that I am a loving and passionate person and she took it at face value.

I'm not going to stress about it - but I find find it quite funny!

Best wishes

Sam

I actually don't think it's that bad. Clearly from somebody who isn't overly fluent in English. Suggest you continue laughing about it.

Will do!

Hi @Samantha45. Most of the Spanish speakers won't find anything weird on the review. I would think that you are a lovely person  and passionate about your city or whatever you do.

Thank you Antonio!

@Samantha45  No, it doesn't make you sound like a hooker. It's obvious that English isn't this guest's first language, and I think anyone reading it would get that. I actually love the way non-native English speakers often express themselves- they come up with words or phrases that aren't inaccurate, but used in a way that a native English speaker would never come up with. It's often very expressive and sometimes quite funny. I think it's a great review. Don't lose any sleep over it.

Thank you Sarah - I can live with that!

Thank you all for your comments - I'm going to lighten up and not worry about it! Have a great Christmas or whatever it is you celebrate at this time of the year 🙂

Best wishes

Samantha
