Is superhost assignment automatic?

Is superhost assignment automatic?

Last week I was checking my Progress and saw that I met all the criteria for superhost. The assessment period ending yesterdat (14 Jan). How long did people have to wait before superhost status was awarded? I know it's only the 15th but I thought it would be an automatic thing. Cheers.

I was notified last week. Contact customer support if you qualified and have not yet been notified, and ask them what's up. Best of luck!

@Rebecca181 How long after the assessment period end date did they notify you? Thanks

@Sean14 Can't find the email now but I know it was sometime last week that I got notified.

@Rebecca181 I guess the assesment period dates are different for everyone. Thanks for your input

@Sean14

There must be some underlying reason that you have not been notified that the rest of us are not privy to Sean! With 8 listings you would certainly have met the minimum number of stays criteria over the past 12 months and you have a steady stream of reviews so it is probable that you have achieved a review rate of more than the 50% minimum. Has your response rate remained above 90% Sean, and I am assuming you have had no host cancellations over the past 12 months.

If you go to Host'Progress' page and click on the Superhost box your stats will be displayed and should look like this. If you have achieved Superhost status you will have bettered the minimums on the target side of this screenshot....

If you check out in those categories then it will be up to Airbnb to sort out where the problem is.

As far as the timing is concerned it does vary depending on whether some relevant information from the last week of the assesment period needs to be collected. I received my notification on the 8th January because all my data from the last assesment had been resceived by that date.

........I had hosted the required minimum stays.

........I had no cancellations in the preceeding 12 months

........I had a 100% rersponse rate.

........I Had an 85% review rate.

And most importantly all the reviews for that assesment period had been received by the 8th January.

All I can tell you is Sean, the assessment dates are the same for all of us no matter where we are in the world!

All the best.

Cheers......Rob

@Robin4 Thanks, but I met all criteria for superhost. My rating was 4.8 and all other stats exceeded requirements. Perhaps it just takes airbnb a few days to sort it out? But if the dates are the same for everyone, why would Rebecca receive notification of superhost status BEFORE the assessment period ended? That would be odd.

@Sean14   I also received notification of Superhost a couple days before assessment period ended. It may have something to do with the timing of your last guests for Dec. and the review period for those stays. The reason they don't promise the assessment results before the 14th is if you had a guest check out late Dec., but those reviews hadn't been submitted yet, they have to be counted for 2018.

But if it's been past the 14th for you, and as you say, your stats are adequate, I'd contact Airbnb.

@Sean14 @Rebecca181

I agree you seem to have met the required stats Sean and it may be that you have to give Airbnb a call on +44 203 318 1111  in the UK to find out why you did not automatically qualify.

My feeling is there is a noticable glitch in your stats! It says you have hosted 1836 nights in the past twelve months which is no doubt a result of the cummulation of your 8 listings but, the system is being confused because 1836 into 365 does not go! I may be wrong but this seems logical Sean and it will take that call to Airbnb to sort this out!

We have to bare in mind this nights per year thing is a new innovation on the part of Airbnb to help those hosts who host long term guests, and it seems logical that there are going to be some teathing glitches, and I would say that is the case here!

To clarify the assesment question you asked. The assesment period which we have just been assesed on is for the 12 months from the 1st January 2018 to 31st of December 2018. The delay until the 14th is to allow for reviews for stays that took place in the last week of that assesment period to be received baring in mind bothg host and guest have 14 days from the conclusion of the stay to lodge a review.

Rebecca and I recieved ours  earlier because there was no doubt that we would meet the required criteria........

There was no reason to hold Rebecca's and my notifications any longer because the end result would not be affected by waiting a further 6 days.

As I said you seem to meet the required results Sean so I would give Airbnb a call on the number above and get some clarification from them!

@Sean14 I do believe they are the same for all hosts. Which is why I would call support to inquire, or message support at @airbnbhelp over at Twitter - Those Airbnb Twitter support folks are nothing short of being miracle workers for us hosts much of the time.

Airbnb support haven't been too helpful. The first thing they told me was thay my score is 4.4 and this I don't qualify. I had to point out that this is my score since starting on Airbnb and is not what is used for superhost assessment.

Then they told me that I didn't meet the criteria over the last 12 months, yet my stats show that I do and it said... "Everything’s looking good! Keep it up to earn Superhost at the next assessment. " - which was yesterday. Let's see what they say next...

@Sean14

That ticket that was opened by your inquiry would still be open Sean. What will now happen you will receive an email message in your listing inbox from CS, and I would respond to that asking if the nights hosted could have confused the system into providing a false set of stats.

In my opinion it would be worth a try Sean, on many occasions they do see logic and when confronted with evidence will choose to act!

We users here on the CC do not have access to each others accounts to give a more considered opinion than that Sean and that is a frustration at times, but if you are sure you are correct here I feel it is worth pursuing!

All the best mate.

Cheers......Rob

I think I know what has happened now. Like you mentioned the actual assessment period was until Dec 31st when my score was actually 4.7. it changed to 4.8 in the last two weeks and the confusing wording on the site lef me to beiieve the assessment period ended yesterday and thus my 4.8 would qualify. It actually ended in Dec. Thanks for your help. I think AirBnb ought to change their wording 🙂
