Last minute cancellation and Reviews

I have a guest who wants to cancel at 8:48pm the night before a one week stay. She feels it is "too rural" and that she has to drive to a beach each day is a big deal. We clearly state that we are an association of log homes on 75 acres. I have a strict cancellation policy and do nto want to refund her any money because of her own lack of research. Please note this home is on many sites with ALL 5 star reviews.

How do I fend off a bad review as I think she may check-in anyways as she has spent the money .

I would encourage her to cancel and offer to refund part of her money. I usually refund most if I am able to rebook. I know not everyone will agree, but I don't want unhappy guests. If she cancels, she can not leave a review. Don't cancel for her! Good luck. Hope it works out.

If she wants to cancel why hasnt  she ? Not complicated to do so.

If she cancels she can't leave a review. If she doesn't cancel and shows up she'll just be a pain to have around. I agree with the partial idea.

I also have a strict cancellation policy. In cases such as this, I tell the guest that i may not be able to rebook given that the cancellation is so last minute, but that if I do get another guests I will refund them (obviously they must cancel first). It's also helpful to remind them that they agreed to the terms of the cancellation policy when they booked and that the rural nature of the place is clearly stated in the description (I'm sure you e already said this).

Stick to your guns. Thats too bad on their part.

If you feel they are coming anyway , contact Airbnb beforehand to facilitate a smooth stay. They will contact the guest to address your concerns. DONOT CANCEL FOR THEM. YOU WILL BE ASSESSED PENALTIES.
