Late arrival

Late arrival

Guests were supposed to check in 3 hours ago. Haven't heard from the guests for 6 hours. I had to send 4 separate emails asking when they planned to check in. They finally responded saying they would arrive around 6:30 pm. It's now after 9:30 pm and I haven't heard from them and they aren't here. I emailed and texted them and received no response. It's a work night I need to get some rest. It's not that they are late it's that they aren't communicating. I am tired and frustrated and want their stay to be nice. What would you do?

I'd have an extra drink and steel myself to admit them graciously when they eventually arrive. And then I'd go and amend my standard acceptance/welcome message (you have set up some boilerplate, yes?) to emphasize that accurately-communicated arrival times are quite important. Either that or install a coded, keyless lock which is what we've done. Becaue of that, we no lomger care when guests arrive.

Where is the standard acceptance message input area?  I do not see it. Many thanks

Somewhere, which I can't find right now and don't feel too inclined to dig for, AirBnB recently added a place for hosts to store a set of boilerplate messages about anything you want. However, I don't use that because I'd already created a set for myself that I store "in the cloud". I can get to them from any device -- phone, iPad, my laptop, a friend's laptop, or even a public computer.

Even in their new repository (which all hosts might not see; AirBnB tends to roll new features out host-by-host), AirBnB doesn't provide any templates or suggested topics. It's just a place to store any partial or complete messages that you might find you need more than once.

@Lindsay6, as I see it (and I'm not saying that i'm right about it), when a check-in time is set it means that the time is the earliest the guest can check-in, and not the time that the guest should check-in. Does it drive me crazy? Absolutely! Even worse, my rental unit is not my own home but another location a car ride away. I've had to wait for a guest to arrive (a few hours late) at midnight, standing in front of the building where my unit is located.
