I have Instant Booking and that works like a charm. I also have a 3pm-7pm book in time, but I have had it twice now..people booking Instantly for the night well past the check -in time. It hasn't been stupid late..but still. With Instant Booking I am committed...but I don't know about the witching hour arrival. Thoughts please.

Put in your description (if you wish) that check in after x pm will incur an additonal $x.
It may reduce your number of bookings, but you may be happier all round
With anothers help, found the right place to set the time to allow for a late in day booking, and still control it. Thanks for your input.

if you have instant booking it is still possible to set the time when the guests can book with you the latest. let say you will not accept instant booking after 18.00 and set the check in time too from what time to what time. its all on the setting.

I have been having this issue too - clients booking at 9:00PM for the next day. How do we set the time that we allow bookings for the next day? I am currently responding to those bookings saying I need a 24 hour notice and if they book at 9PM they cannot get in until 9:00 the net evening How do I set the time to allow for bookings?
I believe you can set it to 3 days notice.
Personally I don't accept same day bookings. I had a request recently whereby a couple said that were interested in staying Friday and Sunday night. I pre-approved their request and then heard nothing. The pre-approval expired after 24 hours and then they contacted me on the Thursday evening at 5.40 pm requesting to book for that night plus the Saturday and Sunday. There was no way I was going to start cleaning and preparing the room for them to arrive in the next half hour when they hadn't even bothered to respond to my previousl pre-approval. I told them that I could only offer the Friday and Saturday and that was the last I heard.
Thanks for your in-put. Our room is set aside for this and right after a guest departs, I clean and prep. People can book and 5 minutes later walk in. It was just about having two Instant Bookings that were later then we would have preferred. Got that sorted now.

Do not allow same day instant book.
My first week into this I lost two bookings due to delay while I was worrying about verifying. I decided to try the Instant route and see how it went. Let the system verify and so far, I am happy with it. There is no delay and I have the booking.

Hi Craig...sorry to be delayed responding. It's just morning here in BC. Go into your booking section. It has the options to change booking methods. If you click onto the bottom one..to allow you 24 hrs to verify? That will take out the Instant part.
