Hi everyone, I am about to start an airbnb within few weeks from now as I am renovating and decorating my house for sometime now.I always follow airbnb community since when I had decided to be a part of airbnb family, which was 4 months ago.And I must say some of the community members are really nice and generous to give everyone advices and suggestions and answers of their questions.I find most of the require answers by just following the community. But there is one question of which the answer is not clear to me yet. Can anybody help me understand the legal procedures of hosting in kolkata,India??Though I found quite a few answers to this from various other links but it's still not clear to me..I would really appreciate anyone helping me on this and accept me as one of their airbnb family member..
Hello @Kith0. The legal issues related to hosting aka providing short- and long-term accommodation are not regulated by Airbnb, but by the legislation of a particular country. So in your case you should study the Indian regulations (tax, rental) as well as any local ones. Each location is different in this respect, and Airbnb must obey any state/local laws in power.
@Kith0 I compliment you on being willing to carefully understand this business and platform. @Marzena4 is right on target in that Air BNB does not have advice or information about the regulatory aspects of the business. However, you might want to check into the Home Sharing Clubs (under Discuss). I notice there are two clubs in India - Mumbai and Dehli. I started a club here in a small town in Southern California and we help each other out and meet several times a year. Good luck!!
