Hi All,
My partner and I are living in a 2 bedrooms flat, and we have started offering our 2nd bedroom with a private bathroom to Airbnb guests for 2 months now.
My partner is quite suspicious person and wants to install a locker in our bedroom's door.
So when we are not here, we can lock our room without worrying if a guest has came into our room.
I don't feel confortable about it, since there's no locker for the guest room.
The concept of Airbnb is to have a trust relationship between the guest and the host.
I am not sure about the guest's reaction, if we lock our room in front of him/her, without giving them the possibility to lock their room's door.
I would like to know if you are having the similar situation, is this working well for you and your guests ?
And what are your thoughts on our situation ?
Kind regards,
Xiao
I don't have a lock on my door. But if you don't have a secure way of saving valuables such as a safe in your room, I can't see why you shouldn't put a lock on your door if you want to.
Thank you Helen for your feedback
We have a lock for our bedroom door and feel it's entirely appropriate to protect our belongs (such as jewelry, firearms, important documents, etc.) Most people are traveling for vacation or short-term purposes and aren't bringing all their expensive/important belongings with them, so there's really no need for them to lock their door. Plus they're in MY house - if I want to lock my door, it's not their concern.
Thank you Cynthia & Chris for your feedback ! I feel more comfortable of having it for our bedroom now. 🙂
Why not let the guest also lock their door? Many people would be more comfortable sleeping in a strange place with their bedroom door locked. Also if there were a burglary, maybe the burglar would be stopped at the bedroom doors. You can have a key to that door on your own key ring that you can use if the guest locks themselves out or locks themselves in and refuses to leave. (You don't need to tell the guest you have a key.)
