Lost keys

I have just had a third guest lose the keys to my house.  I am curious what other's do in this instance.  Do I rekey my house?  Do I charge them a fee to replace the key?  Do I not give them a key?

@Nikki146

it happened to us 3 times in 2,5 y. of hosting. We changed locks and made duplicate keys and charge our guests with 90€ replacement costs. Until now they all paid for it.

Code locks are great because then you don't have this problem anymore.

Another neat and helpful solution is to have key tags made up with just your mobile number on them. Most people and places are happy to phone the number on the tag and tell you they have found them.

It's worked for us - not with guests losing keys - but family members leaving them behind in coffee shops etc.

Keyless of course is the best option

@Nikki146, I would definitely go with a smart look where the guests are assigned their own codes. It not only eliminates the key issue, but you can also remotely lock it if they forget, and see when they come and go.
