Make hosting safe

Make hosting safe

Would you let your cat watch your milk? Then why put Airbnb to watch over hosting security, and screening guests?

host safety should be regulated by state and federal law. Like any hotel, that require guests to show a government issued ID, with a headshot photo (pets, sunsets, are not accepted photos)

help Airbnb make the right decision here, call your congressman or woman today and ask them to make hosting safe!

left on their own, Airbnb investors will never screen guests, or ask for photo IDs as it hurts their bottom line. Less users - less revenue

Be proactive, don’t wait for a major crime, or a terorist getting away with Airbnb very loose guest screening - call your congressman today! Do the right thing

Hi @Oad0

These things will happen within the company itself, or it will go bust, or evolve into something completely different.

But if the changes to tighten joining requirements: facial profiles, information about  themselves, verification of government ID doesn’t happen, then classic hosts will leave because another smart group of stakeholders will set up a matching company, with the requirements of the classic hosts. These positive drivers will determine the markets and the opportunities. It may be smaller, but the criterion to participate will be stricter. Hosts and guests alike will find a win. Getting the correct accommodation experience, the better guest and the positive feedback required. Staying community based, although on a larger scale....

Hosts are already shopping around and increasing their own house rules and vetting processes to improve safety. This is more about safety than security.....

Please, let’s not politicise a global situation. ...... this is a business that can self regulate, or we take our business elsewhere.

Same story as Facebook... expand the business whatever it takes! fb now is dominating the social media space. Small problem, tens of million of accounts were breached, and their info sold on darknet. fake news are all over the place, promoting hate, and bigotry

fb management were called twice to testify before Congress, and law makers are looking into regulating its practices (also in EU)

It took 12 years for the bad guys to exploit the very loose policies in fb - let’s wait and see what happens with Airbnb loose guest screening policies

Nobody is stopping you to ask photo ID from your guest during or before check-in. Hotels and motels do this. In some countries, this is regulated by law and it is mandatory, but even if it isn't you are allowed to do it. You just have to have it written in your house rules.
