Is it in Airbnbs interest to keep driving down prices?

I am often told on my calendar "Your property appeared in a search for these dates but people booked elsewhere for £10 per night cheaper"

Why does Airbnb not  tell us when the reverse is true? i.e.  when people look at your property but then book somewhere else more expensive?

Once I followed their suggestion and lower my price to absolutely ridiculous rate. Sure enough I got an inquiry right away but the downside was you get the kind of clients who can only afford that rate... bottom bargain rate.... Never again.

This client cost me more by eating all the good in b the house in 3 days stay, stole items and stunk up the house. I had used up his rent and then some more to rectify the mess he left.

I am not sure what algorithm Airbnb use but it does not suit my listing. I adjust price according to similar listings around me

@Andrew1073 Yes, they do want to drive down the prices to encourage more guests to book with Airbnb, rather than another booking platform. And they charge a higher % guest fee on lower priced listing, if you can believe that. The faster and more furiously bookings come in, the happier the company is, as collecting guest fees is their bottom line, not whether those prices will attract bad guests who cause a host grief, or make it unprofitable for the host.
