New Algorithm Limiting Listing Views

When a  prospective guest is searching for a place the new default algorithym automaticaly limits the listing that are shown if the person has not adjusted the number of guests. We were at a meeting of Airbnb Hosts last night.  The Airbnb representative at the meeting mentioned that the new default algorithm is most likely an "experimental" application that the Airbnb Product Managers are trying out. There was a 100% agreement by the hosts at the meeting that the algorithm is unfairly limiting the availability of a perspective guest's ability to view listings. Furthermore in contrast to the reports regarding Airbnb analytics many of the hosts find that guests, especially those who are new or infrequent users of the system do not use filters. PLEASE encourage Product Development Team to remove the limiting algorithm.  We are referring to the algorithm that creates a default filter limiting the search to listings hosting 1-3 guests, if the automatic number of guests (1) is not adjusted, thus not showing listings which can accommodate more than three guests. We believe that all listings should appear until a prospective guest uses filters.

Hi Whit!

Airbnb has most certainly monkeyed with the search results. My place (in Crozet, btw, Hi neighbor!) is only visible for the last week and a half, if I lower the high end of the price range, or filter for Pet Friendly. So my listing is invisible to people who don't travel with pets (most people) or to travelers who don't think of reducing the price range filter.

I contacted Airbnb via twitter on 11/29 and got a call and an email - but no solution. Just a "thank you and we're looking in to it" kind of response.

Your Airstream property looks pretty cool!
