New to Airbnb and hosting!

Hello everyone!  I am new to airbnb and will be hosting a room in my home in TN. I have been contacted twice bt 2 new users as well and the most recent one is from an older gentleman who wants to stay for 6 weeks. He said they sold their home and in a process of closing a house locally. I am still very skeptical and not familiar with the scams and was wondering what everyone can advice? How can i verify that they are legit? It shows on their profile that they are verified but have never used airbnb and this is their 1st time as well. Thanks in advance!

Jay - 6 weeks is a long time. You may want to ease into this new experience at a slower pace, I.e guests who stay for just a few days, guests with solid reviews, etc. I mean the pull is hard as revenue from 6 weeks,  but I am always cautious especially if there are no reviews or long er stay requests.  To your question of further varification you can ask to become friends on face book and see who this guy is socially although he will probably reject

Don't forget after 28 days, its a long term let which gives your guest all sorts of rights incl staying and not paying.

I think its just tooooo long a stay for someone new to ABB
