Occupancy taxes-how are they recorded?

Airbnb collects occupancy taxes from our guests much like a hotel does.  And when those taxes get paid to the city, is there a distinct connection to our property?  Is there a database that knows if our property is used as a vacation rental and paying occupancy taxes?  I am stuck in the middle of that becasue of child visitation, some of the month my airbnb is "owner occupied" and some of the month it is being "rented".  This is the main reason I don't keep full time yearly tenants.  Since I don't have full time tenants, can my unit be considred "owner occupied" in a city with a rent staibliazation ordinance?    I am in Los angeles if that makes a difference.

Thank you for your thoughts in adavance!
