@Admin0 - So you've made some decisions about profile photos and sharing them only after a confirmed reservation. You've allowed us as hosts to require a photo before booking. It's important to know who you are opening your front door to when a guest arrives which is why many of us want to get glimpse of them before they arrive. They get the benefit of knowing that the person opening the door is indeed the hosts they booked with and not a serial killer who has already murdered the homeowners. So do us all a favor and make these pictures large enough for us to recognize our guests at the door without having to blow up the webpage by 300%! Below is a recent booking. It's a perfectly acceptable picture, except, it's almost impossible to make out any real features of this guest at this tiny resolution. PLEASE, we've been saying for months that photos are so important to us, PLEASE listen and at least make them big enough to see.
This is the same photo blown up by 400% - which finally gives me enough info about my future guest that I feel confident I will be letting her in and not some rando who simply rang my bell.
Let's be a little more concerned about the safety of your female hosts who are alone when guests arrive to share their homes.
Not only have the profile photos decreased in size very recently, but are now also limited to one showing per profile.
@Alice-and-Jeff0 I don't know why you can't get a bigger picture. I clicked on three different guest profiles and with each when I clicked on their profile picture it enlarged to fill my tablet. I rarely enlarge the photos but it is nice to have the option.
@Beth80 - what this says to me is that they are using scaling technology that has not be implemented correctly for the desktop, a Windows machine, a Chrome user or all of the above. They are worried about the mobile and tablet formats but have failed to install the correct code for someone using a traditional monitor - especially a large-format one. The text is larger than the photo in my example - does it look that way for you? And I have no option to click on the photo directly and receive only the photo image. This is a system configuration issue.
I can enlarge the tiny pictures but the images uploaded are so small (or scaled down) so that the enlargement is just a blurry blob and you can’t really see anything.
Also, many people still don’t upload a photograph of themselves. It’s flowers, puppies etc. A photo of a group of people doesn’t help me either. If I have to accept guests before I can see a photo I definitely want to see their face after I’ve accepted the booking. It would be great if Airbnb could take care of that for us.
@Alice-and-Jeff0 this is what I get. Yes, I've noticed something's are better on my mobile device aanothers on my computer. Hope they figure it out and fix it for you.
@Alice-and-Jeff0 a good suggestion but until airbnb makes sure that the photo is of a human and not a cat or a seashell is doesn't matter how big it is. Or there's no photo at all.
But then again, I guess the chances of a second rando seashell serial killer at my door are slim to none so I should feel comfortable letting the seashell in.
