Hi guys,
I was just doing a search for travelling on Airbnb and found discrepancy in price showing at the main search page, and when drilling down to the detailed page. Please see attached.
Can you please explain/clarify/tell me how to adjust this (for the host)?
Thanks,
Hana
@Hana-and-Rado0 Your link just takes me to a search page. So are you seeing a lower price in the search area than what you see when you enter dates for a reservation? If so, that's not unusual. Hosts can set different prices on their calendar than what shows in the general search. This way hosts can adjust prices for holidays, special events, weekends, etc.
If this is what your are seeing, you can always contact the host (use the Contact Host button to send an inquiry) and ask if they would be willing to lower their price to what the search price says. Who knows? They just might agree.
Hi Clare,
well, I was the one helping them set it up, so I know they don't have different prices for different days.
Anyway, the difference was between what comes as a result in the search and what (when I click on them) shows afterwards in the detail. This is the case for other properties as well, so not sure why that is.
1 day 4 guests AUD$219 on the results from search, and the same day in the detail for 4 people shows AUD$121.
However, I just tested it again. It shows this way when I insert dates in. When I don't enter any dates, it shows the correct price even in the search results.
Can you help? It is very misleading and could put off travellers if they don't drill down to the property to see the correct price.
Thank you.
Hana
@Hana-and-Rado0 I'm not an Airbnb staffer so I can't look into your friend's listing, but I can look as a guest and see if I note anything obvious. Does your friend have Smart Pricing turned on?
Send me her listing number and I'd be happy to take a look.
Hi Clare,
Thanks for your assistance. I had the same results (different prices) come up for all the properties that came up in that town (Goondiwindi, QLD).
https://www.airbnb.com.au/rooms/13284126?guests=2&s=b9GuSQ29
But only if you preselect some dates. If you don't, it shows the correct price....?
Thanks for double checking this.
BTW how can I get someone from Airbnb support to look into this? I can't seem to find their contact email/message anymore.
Cheers,
Hana
Dear all,
I have the same probem. It seems to be a 'glitch' in the system but very annoying if the guests don't click on the booking. The price only adjusts when you actually go into the booking field, my price came up double than what the charge actually is and this is not good for business. how can we get someone from AirBnB to have alook at it.
@Peter108 Click on the link below to see all the ways to contact Airbnb. I use twitter @airbnbhelp exclusively as I think one gets a faster response.
@Hana-and-Rado0 Keeping in mind that I'm seeing prices in USD which is my selected currency, I do see something odd. While the daily rate on her listing and her calendar is $37 when I select an overnight stay, I get $52 per night. Are you sure she doens't have Smart Pricing or Price Tips turned on?
In all my messages I include a link to a Community help guide for contacting Airbnb. Click on it and you'll see what I mean. Your friend will have to be the one to contact since she is the host. When you get an answer, please let me know. I'm very curious about what is going on!
Hi Hana
This has been going on now for over a week. I've been in touch with Airbnb numerous times now and have sent them screenshots, but they claim when they look at listings there is no problem. Apparently they are looking into this, but it would be good if more hosts can complain about this. We might get action sooner.
Natalia
Hi Natalia, thank you for your comment. I have managed to get onto Airbnb people on Twitter and after exchange of some messages got a response that they will get their product team look into it. So hopefully it will be fixed soon. Hana
This is a response from Airbnbhelp on Twitter just now: "Hi Hana! We are happy to hear from you again! We are not able to provide a timeline on when issues are fixed. Because it is an online platform things are being prioritised differently. This being said, please rest assured that our product team is aware of the issue and is looking into it. Thanks for your support and understanding. Have a nice day!"
Hopefully they will get onto it fast.
