Renter refuses to pay damages

Renter refuses to pay damages

I searched for an answer to this but came up short, so I apologize if this question is a repeat.  There is a $500 security deposit stated in the description of our place.  Our last renter damaged an item and our trusted cleaning crew pinpointed with certainty that is was this particular renter.

I went through the proper steps of requesting payment, and they are refusing to pay indicating they were not responsible for the damage.

Most renters are cool and great, this renter as not.  Am looking for any suggestions/strategies of how to best deal with this situation.

Thank you

You can take the matter up with AirBnb but if the Guest refuses there is usually not much they will do.

@Carrie0, not much you can do, if the guest refuses to own up to it. Certainly send in a claim, following The guidelines exactly, and maybe you will get a reasonable rep. Ha ha ha! Just kidding. You will have to chalk it up to a loss and tax write off.

I am really sorry.

Your "security deposit" means nothing. It is not really a deposit. It's more theoretical. It's like √(-1).
