I accepted a same day booking request. It was for a young woman and her little dog for 3 nights. No reviews. There are very few places around here available that are dog-friendly at the last minute so no red flags, really, other than same day bookings are rare for me.
She was coming from an area about 4-5 hours away and arrived around 7:30pm and was super sweet. Still no red flags. I heard her take a shower and blow dry her hair so I figured she was going out. When I woke up she was not here. The bedroom door was open and the bed was not slept in.
I went to work. I monitor entries/exits and saw she unlocked the door with her code at 8:46am. At 10:19am I received a cancelation notice. I immediately messaged her to ask if everything was okay and no response.
I came home. Everything is in place. The room is still spotless. She even folded up the towel she used and placed it on the bed.
I've read about instances where ABB doesn't verify payment for 24 hours after a reservation is made and some hosts have gotten screwed on same day bookings. Can anyone comment on that? I guess I'll find out at 4pm when the payout is due to be released.
Still can't figure out what happened as she really did seem normal and nice and commented how cute my house was and thanked me for letting her stay.
