Search Results for Listing

Is there a specific reason some listings don't show up in the search results? We have a listing in a small town of Gaston, and one listing shows, but ours doesn't. Instead listings from PDX and larger surround cities come up... 😕 Very confusing to users.

What you need to remember is that AirBnB has 1000's of hosts, even in areas that you dont think will have them.

So, a general search tends to bring up accommodation for 2 people, in an average price band, with good reviews, etc...

Once people start to narrow that down your place appears - I found it quite easily. But you have competition! Not saying you are falling into the AirBnB marketing, but....it is a very competitive environment and people tend to go with hosts that have great reviews under their belt. I am sure you will get there, just needs patience...

Ah, Thanks Gerry!

That makes sense. I guess I was just kind of surprised I figured if I searched for a specific town, it would return only results in that town. Yeah hopefully we will get there. I seem to be getting more bookings and reviews through Homeaway, but will always keep trying with Airbnb! Surprised we haven't even broke the ice with our first review 🙂

By the way, a beautiful listing Nicolas, possibly looks a bit sterile inside.......needs the odd nic nac around, a bit of memorabilia, something to make it look a bit more homely.....but it does look great.

Search results are driven by algorithms here on ABB and activity is the main thing which seems to govern search placement. What Gerry says is absolutely spot on, as always, but something to just add to what he said. Every so often refresh your page with a different picture or add to house rules. Perhaps even go so far as to get a friend or an aquaintance to make an enquiry (not a reservation request, just ask a question) just an enquiry through the 'Contact Host' tab......something that will require the granting of a pre-approval on your part! It doesn't commit you or the enquirer to anything, it opens a message stream and after 24 hours it just drops off the system with no penalty! But it does create activity through your listing and that is what is important.

Activity like this will lift you in the search rankings, so maybe it is worth a try!

Cheers.....Rob
