Hi there,
a potential customer is asking how the service Fee is calculated and why it is so high. I am unable to give him the answer.
My daily rate is 220 €, which for 7 nights amounts to 1540 €. The service fee Airbnb is adding is 278 €.
Can you help me with some information?
Thank you,
Maghi
The Airbnb Guest Service fee is 14,2% (incl. VAT: approx 17%).
Your booking for 7 nights: 1540,- + 100,- (cleaning fee) = 1640,-
278,- is approx 17% of 1640,-
So the caclulcation is correct.

@Maghi1 You don't owe guests any explanation about the service fee. If guests ask you this, you just need to tell them that the service fee has nothing to do with hosts and that hosts have no input into it- that it is what Airbnb charges guests to book on their platform. That the service fee goes to Airbnb, not the host.
