Hi,
I charged a special fee to a client who wanted to bring her dog - €28. Now she is not bringing her dog - and arriving tomorrow. Am I obliged to refund this special fee?
Thanks
Lis
@Lis15 I would say that yes, you should refund her the fee if the dog is no longer coming. I would use the resolution centre to send the money back after she checks in.
On the flip side of your question, why would you not refund the fee?
...because I have less than 24 hours notice that she is changing her booking....
@Lis15 Did you need to make special arrangements to accomodate the dog, or incur any extra expenses?
@Lis15 I agree with @Alexandra316...the fee should be refunded.
She didn't change her check-in time, or the number of guests, which may have required additional work/inconvenience on your part. It's simply an extra fee you were charging for the privelege of bringing her dog. A refund is the right and ethical thing to do.
If you had to go through expenses to welcome the dog (like buying protection or w.e.) I would refund the fee minus what you had to buy in order to welcome the dog. If you didn't buy anything or did anything in particular to welcome the dog, of course it should be refunded.
Ok, thanks everyone for your views.
