Special Offer

Hello - my special offer and special fee options have disappeared and I can not do either with a booking request. I have a request that I need to respond to within a few hours. She has made a request that I agreed to with a $25 fee. How do I send that to her? The option is not in the Inbox message. Many thanks,

Hi @Cindi0 I’m not sure why your special offer button wouldn’t show, if you haven’t accepted the booking yet... then again, I’m not an expert in non-Instant-book situations. Posting to bump your question in the hope another host knows the answer.

Thank you, @Ben551. I needed to accept or decline the booking, so I went ahead and accepted it, then was given the option to alter the reservation amount. I did that, and they accepted. However, I have to say I don't like being required to accept the booking before having the amount agreed upon. If the guest declined to accept the alteration, it would be left to me to cancel the reservation, which would disqualify me from Superhost. A flawed system...

@Cindi0 Oh good, glad you got it sorted. Yes, that is counter intuitive isn’t it. Not a good way around to do it tbh... is this not how it worked for you before?

No, before I could do that before accepting the booking.

I found yesterday that the Special Offer process has changed, and not for the better. I was trying to meet a potential guest's request for a certain budget with a longer-term booking, which I think would have worked for me. Instead of being able to work out the difference in cost to the guest and payout for me with the Special Offer button, the only option was to Send the special offer after guessing at the total. There was no way for me to see the what the guest would have to pay with Airbnb fees added and what the difference in my payout would be. When I called to ask for a rep to help me work it out, they said they could not see the fee calculation for the guest either. And they used to. This is not a good change! I lost that booking -- the guest had booked somewhere else while I was trying to work it out, with Airbnb's help -- and two different reps were guessing too. It used to be a very simple process that I could do on my screen and see all the numbers. I have done this a few times and it was easy and very effective to see what you're getting and what a guest has to pay to make a good, clear offer. I hope they give this one back to us.
