Tactics to not embarrass a guest.

I found a USB drive with porn in my TV (tame stuff.) I messaged the guest and said they left a USB behind and we could arrange a pick-up at a later date. I'm not at all bothered by it and checking the tv and computer is part of my cleaning routine. There hasn't been a reply yet and I'm wondering if I maybe embarrassed them. After all, Malaysia isn't well known for understanding a persons sexual proclivities.

Truth be told I hadn't even thought about the porn, just returning the drive. Any ideas how to handle differently next time?

@Jim472 I am guessing they weren't embarrassed but they just don't think an USB is that important to bother with deliveries especially if they have nothing important on it. Your approach is fine, you found it you offered to give it back, what more could you do.

@Jim472 I have no idea if they are embarrassed. In the future, I would probably not actually view any content on a hard drive and when contacting the guest about returning their possession, I have learned to give them a deadline. I didn't do this once, and had a random pair of socks for over a year! My fault since I didn't tell them they had x number of days to get back to me.

Hi Jim. The guest possibly would be embarrassed about it and probably doesn't know quite how to respond. If he was 50% of a couple it would not be seen as anything sinister, just something they might regularly use. But having left it behind would probably want to distance himself from it.

I have had a few personal things left behind in my time hosting, on each occasion I have felt the value of the item was not worth embarrassing the guest over and just thrown it out.

A USB drive....what are we talking about here Jim $3-4 ...personally I would not have mentioned it to them.

Cheers.....Rob
