Tip #1: TOSS YOUR BAR SOAPS!
Decades ago I tossed ALL bar soaps and switched to liquid soap. I noticed now matter how often I cleaned to a sparkling shine my bathroom sink, the haze reappeared the following day. Because I was working a rigorous schedule and had a toddler, the last thing I wanted to do on my days off was to have to clean, again, something I had ALREADY JUST cleaned!
I realized the culprit was the solids in the soap, including in the lovely transparent glycerine soaps. Soapmaking uses fat/lard as the base (I'm not sure what the base is for modern soaps, but boutique soaps continue to use fat/lard) so it made sense that there would be a hazy buildup. I swapped out my bars of soap for liquid soaps and have not looked back. Nor have I had the problem since.
I can tell when a guest has used bar soap because instead of merely wiping down the tile in the shower recess, I have to get out the Bon Ami (I highly recommend this over any other scouring agent, except for maybe baking powder) and scrub the soap off the tile and from the grout using a gentle brush (the residue attracts mildew) so as not to scrub out the grout. Then I have to rinse all of this off. THEN I can wipe down the tile to a shine. I do this to the shower floor as well. I also have to pay extra attention to the chrome fixtures.
So if you want to save yourself A LOT of time, SWITCH TO LIQUID SOAP!
Hope this helps save you from having to unnecessarily spend time in the bathroom when you could be doing what you love!
