Nightmare weekender.’ My Galveston home was rented for a mummy and daughter get away for a 9 year old. I am visiting the beach house and couldn’t sleep all night cause it wreaks of urine in the master bedroom even after my maid cleaned- come to find out the mattress is ruined 😞 And they left a pigs ear in my sofa and the sofa also wreaks of urine- thankfully that’s waterproof !

Dont you have Mattress covers? The wet stains in the Matress could have been easily resolved with mattress covers. If AirBnb doesnt give you a damage claim. Just get it cleaned and put it in a plastic mattress bag. All of my mattresses are in Plastic Mattress Bags to protect against this situation and to protect against bed bugs.

I had regular mattress pad covers not the fully zipped ones for bed bugs etc

Use the plastic mattress pads or mattress bags, they dont allow moisture through, I also layer my sheets. I will use older stained sheets on top of the mattress or on top of the plastic to give the plastic a softer feel and to absorb an extra moisture. Sometimes the plastic is loud, but using older stained sheets as cusion it gives the plastic a more natural feel.

@Cindy624 OH MY how horrible...............I do hope you have made a Resolution Claim for this awful damage. And of course 2 hosts before  have mentioned mattress protectors...........that is a MUST HAVE  for all beds all beds......- I use 2 at a time...............because replacing a mattress is very expensive. You will never get the urine smell or stains out of this one I'm afraid. Curious did the guests tell you about all this bad stuff? I would imagine not since you smelled it and discovered it. So sorry, hopefully its a lesson learned for many hosts reading this. hope you get some $$ for the damage.

She never said ONE word, she actually changed the mattress pad cover washed the soiled one put it away opened the secondary I had and put it on.

@Cindy624   Some people are truly awful, and sneaky.  We have the cheapest zippered covers we could find, we got them either at WalMart or Big Lots, plus a cheap mattress pad and then on the top of that is a more expensive, more fluffy mattress pad that we got on sale.  It works great and protects the mattresses., the mattress pads mean the vinyl cover isn't noticeable to guests, who will otherwise complain about vinyl and sheets not breathing....

You could try to get $$ for the damages, but that will almost always trigger a negative revenge review, so it has to be factored in.

Guests never tell you that their kids are bed wetters... 

I had a 17yr old bed wetter before. I wonder sometimes what kind of psycologica issues a kid must have to wet the bed at 17. I remember that kid vividly because he made the statement that he was claustrophobic and scared of the dark, so he wanted to sleep in the sun room.

Don't assume psychological issues. We had friends with a similar problem in the family, they'd had years of medical follow-up to no avail and finally someone figured out it was an undiagnosed tumor.

Still, the mother of the bedwetter should have known about the problem and provided their own padding - or ask the host for it.

That's terrible! I hope you could do something about it. The double layers waterproof + dust cover mattress for future booking needed.

It seems kids today pee in bed until puberty, I don't know what's wrong with them??? My generation stopped at the age of 2,5.

We hosted about 10 families with kids and 9 (nine) of them had a bed wetter. Fortunately, we had waterproof mattress covers from day one. None of them said anything, half of them tried to hide it (!!!!) Idiots.

Hi @Cindy624 so terrible 

You have the right to claim so you can buy a new matrass because its ruined. 

I have a cover that is both made of plastic and the top has a kind of fluffy material but it does not fully cover top and bottom of the matrass but is really does the trick.

Guest wont even feel that the matrass is covered with plastic. I even bought one for myself because the matrass stays fresh. I bought mine from the Carrefour by the way.

They might have had a Dog? You will never get rid of Dog urine. Those Pig ears are usually used for dogs. You might need to collect a damage deposit? Did you find any dog food?''
