We recently had a new guest request to stay at our propety on airbnb. At the time of the request she did not have her Goverment ID completed on her profile. We requested she complete this before we accepted her stay. At this point she has complete the govement ID but we still cannot see her real name. Aren't we supposed to be able to see her real on a booking request??
@Bri9 not sure what you meant by "real name". Once someone verified their ID (by going to www.airbnb.com/verify and follow all the steps), their profile should have the green tick and says verified. Whether someone's profile is verified or not (with government ID/not), you should always be able to see their name.
Hi Farah--She did submit and have her ID verified after I asked, but in that same message I asked for full names of both guests and she never responded to tell me she submitted her ID or to tell me her name.
There was no last name on her profile, only her first name and a profile picture that looked like it was from a magazine, she did not provide any other info about herself and had no reviews (which is the reason I asked for full names of both guests).
I searched Airbnb FAQ and found something that said when a guest ID is verified the full name on the ID (not just the name a guest enters on their profile) and whether the guest is over or under 25yrs of age will be available to the host.
So I guess my question is at what point in time would I, as a host, be able to see the real name (I should have said full name) of a potential guest. I used to see full names but I can't remember if those showed up AFTER I accepted a booking or prior to accepting...or both.
I've had first timers book and stay before with great success, but all were communicative--since this girl never replied after two (really nice and encouraging) messages, I just let the request expire after messaging her to tell her that's what was happening but I'd be happy to consider her booking request again if it included full guest names.
UPDATE: The guest re-submitted her request and got back to me with her full name etc. She tried to send a linkedin URL but airbnb blocks URLs in their messages (along with phone numbers). But we eventually got it worked out. The piece of info I wanted to pass along was that once I accepted her request then I was able to see her full name, but not before. I guess you only see their full name prior to accepting the booking if they have entered it on their profile.
@Bri9 I was just about to let you know that "real" information about a guest or about you for that matter is allowed through the system only after a confirmed reservation. Safety issue. Glad you worked it out.
Thanks for confirming that Linda!
