Crumpled wet towels- ugh. Some on the carpet, others left on a stack of dry towels. I provide plenty of hooks and a hamper. I think I will have to do a little education on my check in. Seems ridiculous to have to bring this up. Any ideas?
I'm not sure this is a little thing when you have quality furniture. I always tell my guests there are hooks for wet towels, but some folks just don't get it. I'd charge someone if the finish on my nice furniture were ruined.
Here's an idea you can borrow from our house rules:
TOWELS AND LINENS
Please use the towel rods and hooks in the bathroom for your wet washcloths and damp towels. Avoid placing wet things on furniture or on the wood floors. We provide make-up remover wipes, so please use them to prevent stains on our washcloths, towels, linens and pillows. Fine linen and towels should not be brought outside. We do have some other towels available for taking out on an adventure with you. We provide paper towels and rags if you need to clean something dirty. At the end of your stay, please place used washcloths and towels in the bathtub. Leave the bed linens on the beds.
Great idea - I will copy that and put it in a nice frame in the bathroom! So far everyone has respected my request that all towels etc. go in the hamper and to leave the bed linens on the bed. I take the hamper and dump it into the top loader washer and that's one job taken care of.
I think one of the biggest perceptions we need to address is the difference between the hotel experience and the shared home experience. Your House Rules should assume your guest is not a seasoned Air BNB traveler.
All good ideas. I am an airbnb newbie and have found the towels on the furnature etc. One detail is that the bathroom is actually across the hall (a shared space) from the bedroom apartment. Lots of hooks in the bath but perhaps not enough yet in the bedroom? I will be working on that. Signage and such can help plus more into when I greet people. Thanks
