Hi
We've just had a terrible guest who no one would ever want in their house. Apart from writing a bad review, is there anything else I can do?
Katherine
Hello @Katherine-and-Suresh0. If they did damage, you can claim the money; and you may also report that user if you think they deserve it. And, as you said, writing a proper review.
Yes I know I can claim the money, but I doubt he will pay. When I asked he just left, slamming the door. The options for 'reporting' a profile are only if the person is a scammer or a criminal, or shared offensive content - none of these apply, he was just not a man you want in your home. Writing a review won't help - I doubt he will use Airbnb again anyway, and instant booking makes it very hard for hosts to stop people like that. So I don't think there is a real way to deal with this.
thumb down so he will not be able to instant book any place where the host demand only good reviews, flag his profile and give him 3 stars or lower so he can not book your place ever again. You can also tell ABB what is his problem (last option after you write public review)
How can I flag his profile and tell Airbnb? I can't see an option for that. You can report someone's profile but only with the options that the person is a scammer, offender or exists for malicious purposes, the profile photo is offensive, or the person tried to give you their email address etc - none of these apply. Writing a bad review is just not bad enough for this guy! Anyway I expect he won't use Airbnb again, and he can alwasy delete his profile and start again. So there seems to be nothing I can really do.
@Katherine-and-Suresh0 after you review him you will be asked if you would like to share anything else with Airbnb
Of course you can submit a damage claim.
Hopefully you have a deposit so Airbnb will be able process a claim against the payment method he used if they agree he owes the money.
If you don't you can still claim using their resolution process.
+1
I have a deposit required, and it hasn't inhibited my ability to get bookings!
But it's not about money - the amount of damage was fairly minimal compared to the experience of having a man like that in my home.
But it's not about the damage, it's about stopping him ever going to someone elese's house. I have claimed - whether or not he pays is a different story. I want to do something stronger than just asking him to pay for the damage - which was relatively little in comparison to the experience of hosting him.
Hi
How can I flag his profile? Where is that option? And how can I give Airbnb feedback? I can't see that option when I fill out reviews.
I've hosted hundreds of guests and feel quite confident with the system, but Airbnb do not make this easy. It is extremely difficult even to get to this community page - you can't get there through links on the website - it's crazy!
Katherine
Uhmm,, sorry to hear your concern!
Leaving a bad review will really help just make sure that the review doesn't violates the reviews terms and conditions otherwise it will just be remove and other host will not see that.
If there are damages done during the stay of the guest you can go ahead and make a claim, whether you have or you dont have security deposit set, airbnb does have host guarantee program that will help, just make sure that you have supporting documents and pictures to support your claim.(it is helpful though if you have security deposit set in your listing page).
And third, you can always report a guests who have inappropriate behavior especially if that guest is affecting other guest or what not. Airbnb sets hosting standards but Airbnb also expect every guest actually everyone to have proper behavior since everyone agreed to the terms and condition upon signing up and everyone is obliged to follow. Respecting one another important. You may report that guest and let AIRBNB investigate and take action about that matter.
Have a good day!
Thanks - but how do I report a guest? You can report a profile for being offensive or a scammer, or malicious, but how do you report a guest? The other thing is, yes, I will of course write a bad review, but I have to wait 72 hours to see whether he will pay for the damage (the damage wasn't that much really) so until I know what happens about that, I can't really write the review.
You can leave three star or less review AND then provide private feedback to Airbnb about the guest.
