What is the purpose of the guest review if we can not see it? :)

I can not help asking this question! What is the purpose of the guest review if we can not see it? 🙂

What makes the difference between Airbnb and other booking websites is the fact that, both the guest and host are reviewed.

If the hosts can not see anyway the guest´s review, it is no use to write a review on the guest´s profile anymore.

@Rebecca0,

I agree. This whole posting is nonsense.  It only generates misunderstanding.

In this case it's an experienced Host (5 years over 250 Reviews) who was confronted by a blank profile.

Doubtless he's previously had contact from an Inquirer without review but in most cases with a profile photo. So this was something new.... Applying a bit of grey matter instead of panicking would likely have saved him a trip to the Community Centre.

@Alon0

It must be a scorn from your part! There is no panick 🙂

As what it have been said in this community, some hosts were not being able to visit the potential guests profile.

So, we can report it and also, discuss it, to see if it is a glitch or a policy change, or maybe some test that are going on.

Paraphrasing you - If you were able to understand it, you would likely have saved your time as well ! 🙂

Cheers!

@Renato0,

I would like to see proof that 'some hosts were not being able to visit the potential guests profile.' Frankly, I don't believe it, and I get the impression that a few too many give vent to their imagination instead of properly checking what's going on.

Indeed, if it's happening to a number of Hosts around the world, surely at least one person has got an explanation from Airbnb via email message that they can post on a forum. I haven't seen it.

So if you have seen anyone posting an explanatory message from Airbnb, please copy it onto this discussion which you started.

@J-Renato0,

re.  'explanatory message from Airbnb', I mean other than for a 'glitch' that I previously posited as a possible explanation. A glitch is nothing unusual, it happens from time to time.

Your suggestion is that Airbnb are deliberately withholding Guest reviews from Hosts.

PROOVE IT!"

If you think I believe that you are a Sherlock Holmes at the service of Airbnb... You ve got another think coming!

Honestly speaking, my suggestion to you is that you should find another person to bore and ask proofs! 🙂

Have a wonderful weekend! 🙂

Please, calm down! 🙂

If you want to quote me, please quote the entire phrase 🙂
My entire phrase.
"As what it have been said in this community, some hosts were not being able to visit the potential guests profile."

I said it and other person said it in this topic. (can be a glitch, test or whatsoever).

Honestly speaking I do not want to discuss with you. I would be delighted if you could spare me.

@J-Renato0,

Of course I'm not 'at the service of Airbnb.'

If I was I would know what you're talking about.

I don't have a clue?

And you seem incapable of supporting the heading of your post.

And if  you want to compare me to 'Sherlock Holmes'

i'd call  your post straight out of Lewis Carrol:

Indeed, the title of your post is so absurd it's the logic of Alice in Wonderland.

@Rebecca0

There is no damage from my point of view! It is a discussion in a forum (community).

Please, spare me from this kind of vocabulary and crazy over reaction! 🙂

Making use of your on words (in a previews post on this thread) - Its you who is being somewhat hysterical 🙂

You should spare the members from reading things written using capslock where it is not necessary (In my village and throughout the world, internet protocols consider that it sound as if the poster it was shouting at others! 🙂

On the topic of reviews, a recent guest has posted their review so I have received the usual system prompt for me to review them.

The problem is, it wouldn't be a very positive review and I don't really want to post a negative review about someone, especially if said issues may have been due to cultural differences.

Is there any way that I will be able to see their review/their review will be published if I don't post review about them?

Any help, much appreciated.

@Helen699 hello, NO you can not or will be able to see their review until you either post one yourself or 14 days has lapsed.  Then you will see it on your listing page.

IF you do not post a review make sure you understand you WILL NOT be able to comment on their review. So if they say something untrue or misleading you will NOT be given a chance to say a word. So you always want to review and be honest.

Since it is cultural differences as you say.........Say that and you can be kind and honest without being super negative. It all depends on words used. If you tell the situation many hosts are usually willing to add assistance on here CC. So if you want real assistance in the review you have to be straight up and honest and hosts will usually help out. Just know that what you will be offered will be honest from each host and might not be what you want to hear. But, it is the best way to learn how to deal with reviews and much of the challenges on Airbnb. Tell us and learn and grow......happy hosting, Clara

one question - ??? why are you afraid of a negative review if it is real and honest???

The fear that so many hosts have of reviews can prove damaging for other hosts.  And to totally avoid the issues and not let other hosts know what the guests is like is very unfair in my opinion.

Thank you, Clara. That is really helpful feedback.

It's not fear preventing me, per se. I just think negative comments (in black and white) could seem a bit harsh. So, I will have to try my hand at writing a fair, yet honest review...

You are right. Other hosts have the right to know before they accept a booking.

@Helen699..... inorder for the person to be notified please use @ and their name will drop down to pick and they will get a notification.

Just be cautious since you said cultural differences - otherwise your review could be removed.
