Why are Superhosts so hard on other hosts (as guests?)

Just got a four star (with threes in several sub categories) from a superhost turned guest for whom I actually have gone above and beyond! She fell in the alley about half a block from my house as I was at the house greeting her group. I stayed to help walk her in, made sure all the arrangements were made for her and then drove her crutches I had at my house at the expense of missing my son’s volleyball game. She found a way to blame me for her fall. Apparently it is because instructions to my garage were not clear (they are turn by turn and the garage is behind the house). I am not sure what the connection is but I guess as humans we need to have someone to blame. The crutches were not her size, the house was too hot (central air conditioner with two thermostats anyone?) and so on. She also “accidentally” took one of the throws that she will be mailing back. I am just grateful that she did not fall on my property. Why are hosts so demanding? Also, unlike many guests, they do know what they are doing when leaving less than five stars. They do know how it will reflect on the listing, search standing and booking rate

I've not yet stayed as an Airbnb guest, but when I do, if I feel the host has made an effort to provide decent accomodation, I would never ding them in the review, I'd only give private feedback and not even that if it was just a matter of a not-too-clean carpet or some other minor thing. And I'd hope they'd review me well even if I left a dab of toothpaste on the bathroom counter 🙂

I hate it that reviews have become a breeding ground for airing one's lack of adaptability and unrealistic expectations. A platform like this only works if both hosts and guests are able to cut each other a modicum of slack.

Hmmmm...

@Inna22 , @Ute42 , @Ann72 , @Lisa723  & @Sarah977 .

I’m currently guesting in another city, meeting a new grandchild! The listing is not as spacious or as new or well cared for as mine etc etc etc.. but there are other listings far better than mine.

HOWEVER, it is exactly what it is listed to be and the images and reviews are accurate.

It is great location, offers what I applied filters for, and all the appliances are operational and the bed and bedding good. The place is clean, except they obviously overlooked the oven in a same day turn around... with baked cheese on the shelves and base. We’re all human and I won’t kill off a star over some cheese.

I took a photo and can use it if I don’t clean it as a message. But everything is as expected and works well for our needs. There is no fantasy here.

So currently, everything is accurate and true. Five ️ stars.

@Cathie19 Perfect response!  We make our choices and then don't decide everything should be rearranged to suit us when we get there.  There are so many factors to consider when making the decision to book...wait a minute, this whole discussion is making me much more sympathetic to guests!  🙂

How is the new grandchild???  Now that makes me jealous - not one listing vs another!  🙂

@Ann72

My newest bonnie and contented squirrel-cheeked grandson is a delight. His four year old brother keeps coming up to him, cupping his hands around his little head and says, nanna, he is so cute!

Be still my beating heart........ 😍😍

@Cathie19 That is adorable!!!  💕💕💕
