blocking dates for future guest?

blocking dates for future guest?

Hi,

I just had a newby contact me for this coming weekend (just opened the dates recently when I realized my son is leaving sooner than I thought). She has no reviews. She says she won't get paid until Thursday and would like to arrive Friday but not book until Thursday and can I block off the dates until she has the money...I'm reluctant because what if she changes her mind but even if I want to I'm not sure I can. Isn't there something about blocking dates and then unblocking or maybe that is just canceling and then trying to book.  Anyway, would you do it and if so, how?

Thanks!

Thats up to you but my answer is, put your money where your mouth is. Cash confirms a reservation, not promises. We aren't running charities

You certainly can block then unblock, but I wouldn't. The only way your block would have any effect is if you have another guest for those dates who is ready to pay, and they won't be able to. Bird in the hand...

@Leah3  I wouldn't do it either. If it's still avaiable Thursday she can book it, if not sorry. Some one asked me to that once and I said no. 20 minutes later a 9 day booking came in that included that weekend.

Reservations are held by paying via credit card. Payday doesn't really factor into this unless the guest is using a debit card. (Are debit cards allowed with AirBNB?)

To actually answer your question, I wouldn't block dates unless there is something about this person's story that you find particularly compelling. I didn't "hear" that in your post.

I do this all the time, but only if i would like those particular people to book and because they are booking way, way ahead (1-2 years from now), so what difference would a week make. Otherwise, bad practice to 'Block & Hold'.

I'd be very wary of someone who was booking for a weekend a few days ahead but didn't have the money for it until she got paid.

Don't do it. I don't trust people who don't have access to a credit card. How they use that credit is their business but it should not impact mine.

Not sure how pay day  has anything to do with booking with credit? Unless ABB accepts debit credit cards.?

Don't do it Leah!

@Leah3

It's really up to you, but if it were me.....NO WAY~!
