cancellation penalty

cancellation penalty

Hi there,

I cancelled a booking on the guest's request not realizing there were penalties that I would incurr (my fault). Now the dates between 18 Jan and 1 March are set as unavailable. How can they be reopened as it was the guest who suggested cancelling the booking?

Hello @Milly8. Unfortunately, you can't do anything. Hosts must never cancel - a lesson to learn for you.

Milly, just curious, did you arrange this cancellation with the guess or just got a 'Request to Cancel' from them?

Call Airbnb and explain. If it in your airbnb messaging it should be forgiven

@Milly8, although there is no guarantee AirBnB will do anything, you can try to contact them to explain what happened. If the communication from the guest is in the AirBnB messaging system and shows the guest requesting the cancellation, at least you have evidence that it was really the guest who wanted to cancel.

Explain that you did not know what you were doing.

And hope you get an understanding Customer Service representative.
