guest changes reservation

I have a minimum stay of 4 days.  A guest just requested to change a reservation in  August from 4 days to 2 days at a time that doesn't work for me. Will I be penalized if I don't accept it?

No you won't - but the guest has to cancel not you...they booked on the understanding of a 4 night minimum stay.

Thanks. Now the guest asked for 3 days instead of 4 even after I reminded her of the policy. I don't know if it's better to just accept maybe have good relations. If they end up keeping the 4 days they could give a bad review. They also didn't supply any informaton as to why they are changing it.

I don't know if this works or is possible, but I would try it:

You could decline the change and right away send them a special offer or reservation change for those 3 days except that you charge the guest the amount for 4 days. You can explain again in an accompanying friendly message to get the point across. Something like "due to my basic calculations a 4 -day charge is the minimum".

Just stick to your 4 days. The guest should have read the terms before booking, so it is their problem. You shouldn't lose rent because of their mistake.
