guest does not give an estimated check in

twice I have waited around for a guest to arrive (posted check ins for me is 4pm until 11pm) despite me asking them several times about their rough time of arrival I have either gotten no reply or so vague (some time in the eve). In the end I had to leave door unlocked with directions to their room. Do I have to put up with this? I am 'early to bed' 'early to rise' and it is stated on my airbnb rules. One person arrived at 2am was rather noisy, slept the WHOLE day in the room (so we had to tip toe around) and then had the audacity to complain there was  ONE bug in his room (a stray tiny fly that probably got in when he came in so late). I am a superhost and these two folks was this summer.

@Ros23 no you do not have to put up with this. Why not specify that your check-in window is a window you can actually comfortably live with, like 4pm to 8pm, and that guests who wish to arrive outside of this window must make specific arrangements in advance? And if they don't, then they don't get in.

@Ros23   When a guest books, send them a message reminding them of check-in times. Let them know that they need to let you know their check in time at least a day prior to their arrival, and that if they arrive outside of those times, they will find the doors locked, with no one to let them in, and will end up having to find a hotel. If you don't hear back, send them a reminder. If they still don't respond, contact Airbnb, who will then contact the guest, asking them to respond to you.

And you do not need to tiptoe around your own home just because you have a guest who wants to sleep all day. They booked a shared home- you just carry on with your daily routine, as long as it doesn't involve starting up a chainsaw at 7AM.
