Hello people. I seem to feel aprehensive about accepting bookings from people that have zero or very little information about themselves. How do I work with this diplomatically? How can I suggest they tell me a little more about themselves? Any suggestions?
Thanks so much.
Kate
Keep it simple and easy. For ex. "I see you're new on Airbnb and may not be familiar with how it works on trust and safety. I don't like taking in people of whom I don't know anything. Can you tell me a little bit about more yourself and why you are in the area?
If you don't have verified ID on, you could try turning it on. Every booking is normally set to any conditions prevalent at time of request, but since this is a security measure I'm speculating that it might perhaps override a previous choice of not requiring verified ID. Trying doesn't hurt. Airbnb seems to do a basic ID check, but the verified version is more work and might deter somebody who doesn't want everything on record.
"I see you're new to Airbnb - welcome! Please let me know if you have any questions about the process - it's a bit different than traditional hotels!
I like to know a bit about who I'm sharing my home with - would you tell me a little more about yourself and what brings you to XXX?" You can also ask for a (better) picture or that they complete their profile if it's blank/spotty.
Also reletavely new; We received a Reservation request from a guest with a profile photo of a Dwarf (not exaggerated), a Giant estimated at ~ 180 kg or 396 ponds arrived on our door step and after 3 nights of hosting we are now the disgruntled owners of a TOTALLY COLAPSED Restonic Queen size Base and Mattress set. Leaving us with the following questions; surely this profile misrepresentation can be equated to fraud? Is it expected from Hosts to absorb these losses willfully caused by another? Are we allowed to discriminate against the Big by limiting the weight of a prospective Guest?
It will be great if AirBnB ensure current "pasport" photos to be submitted for verification 🙂
