guests and locations

I think guest should google all locations before they arrive and not just look at the price

this will prevent guests from asking questions of host that no host can control or do anything about.

AS a host in an urban area I describe the area exactly in terms of it being working class abd the racial mix,

and yet I've gotten guest ask questions about safety, is it good or okay for them to walk around.

I cannot control things so all I can do is say to them to do as they feel.

"working class and racial mix" doesn't tell me much about safety, I am sorry 😞  I've never been in New York but I planned to visit it while I was in Canada years ago. I went to a travel agency for information. The guy who worked there told me to book " a decent hotel close to the city center" .At the time it was quite expensive to me so I asked him if there are other cheaper options? ( I am not picky) He said "of course, but you are a solo, female traveler and it could be dangerous"

We've all heard about some NY neighborhoods which are better to avoid and where taxi drivers don't want to go. I am not familiar with NY and have no idea what areas are dangerous or not. So I think this information is important to know, and logical to ask when you plan to visit a big city like NY.

Zagreb is small compared to NY, it has less than 1 mil habitants and yes, I've answered the same question numerous times 🙂

And I've heard about some areas of the city and other states that's not good for me, as a Black woman or person of color, to travel so its a matter of persepctive. Working class means in real estate non middle class so urban blue collar working people thus not a fancy area like 42nd street. Again there is such a thing as google. One area may be safe for you but not me. There are areas Blacks and Muslim friends of mine were told not to go to right here in the city but for you I'm sure would be safe.  Anyway the whites who've stayed in my place I guess they are of that mindset of hippness where folks of color don't sway them. They walk not uber all hours of the night from the train station by themselves or with friends and seem to have no worries. In fact when I suggested to them to uber at night since it's not a fancy area, they looked at me like I offended them assuming they would be uncomfortable in an urban area...lol!

@Darlena0  I would send them a google link and let them decide, or if you can, add a link to your listing or at least the search terms.  Safety is a loaded word. Bad things can happen anywhere. Even though I live in a neighborhood listed as one of the safest in NY, I still tell people that being aware, respectful and street smart is a must, especially in a big city and especially for people who have no travel experience whatsoever and walk around in a bubble—I had a guest who was terrified of a homeless man who asked her for money. That in a city with over 65,000 homeless people many of whom tend to gravitate towards wealthy neighborhoods and tourist attractions. I also had  one set of guests who Ubered door to door and never saw most of NY because they were scared to walk anywhere, never having been out of their gated communities.

Thanks, but I don't know if links can be added in the description i'll see.

Also once they instant book to try and send a link each time that happens is hard and once they book those days are made unavailable. To send them a link to see if they change their minds is a lot of work..lol
