@Ralph5 - looks like: landlords across the Balearic Islands will now be fined up to 40,000 euros ($47,228) if they rent an apartment without the appropriate license. The new law introduces a cap of 623,624 beds that can be used for tourists, and there are plans to cut that by 120,000 over the next few years. Almost 70% of the beds assigned will be in Mallorca and more than half will be in hotels.  There will be no new licences issued for the next year under the plan.  So if you don't have a licence yet, you might try to apply for one.  Authorities have issued an outright ban of rentals in all residential buildings – apart from free-standing and rural properties – until such a time as specific tourist zones can be established, a process which is expected to take at least 12 months. The legislation imposes tight conditions with licences only issued in buildings that have the consent of neighbours’ associations and that meet safety regulations and provide independent water meters. Your best bet looks like to head to your local government and ask if you're legal.
