Hi, fellow Hosts! I'm hoping you can offer some advice....
I'm a Super host in Hawaii, and recently stayed at a property in the LA area that seemed to me a very poorly managed place; communication was minimal, check in was confusing, requiring me to call the host while standing at the door for a while, after expecting someone to meet us, minimally stocked town house offered only 2 washcloths, no house manual or any documents to offer guidance to guests on using pool (which we never managed to use...a priority in my booking this place). I'll be honest, it seemed like a poor attempt to make money that does not meet my understanding of what an airbnb property should be (if you advertise a property for 6, shouldn't you have at least 6 towels, washcloths, kitchenware, including glasses, plates, etc.? I ran out to buy extra hand towels). It seemed to me to be a shady money-making endeavor, rather than a place where hosts cared about our well being and comfort during our stay (not to mention more than $1300 I paid for the rental).
I messaged the host within 24 hours with many things of concern, he attempted to have his wife correct some of them, but others not much. How would you review this property, if you are/were a super host?
Thanks!
Rene
Copy and paste your message into your review. Easy.
What is so difficult about being honest about what you experience?
Sigh.

It sounds to me like most of the issues were with communication. Host needed to communicate how to check in, how to use the pool, that you would need to bring your own towels, etc. So, if you felt like there was reason to be nice, you could seperate that issue out and say that if not for some lack of communication, it would be a lovely place for whatever reasons.
OK, this doesn't fit, but I'm be damned if I can find a way to ask a question here, so I'll tap into this. I just missed a reservation because I had to be out of town for the weekend, and the reservation request expired 10 hours before I got home. I had tried to put a notice on my site that I couldn't accept/deny a request until Sunday night, but I couldn't find a way to post it. Sure don't want this happening again, so, the question: how to I post a temporary notice to the site?
Hi @Jan75, you can start a new topic which will get your answers more easily than entering is as an answer to another question. Click on the red bar on the right which says ''start a conversation''.
The answer to YOUR question is simple: In Manage Listing tab, bottom left, listed/unlisted/snooze. Select SNOOZE and nobody new can see your listing, but existing bookings can still see you. Unsnooze it when you get back from your break! Many guests don't read all the text...
Just wondering whether I am overdoing it as a super host....trying to get some fresh perspective. Thanks
Though the property in question may be able to house six guests, did you reservation explicitly state there would be six guests?
Good point, but no, we were 4, yet there were not enough amenities for even 4 (stated in Airbnb description)
I would leave detailed private feedback with suggestions and offer to provide more detailed advice/feedback as a fellow host.
For the Pubic Review perhaps something postive but constructive. Assuming once you got settled in things went well, the place was nice and as described in listing. I would probably rate overall 3 or 4 with 3 for communication and like any good Review/Feedback try to use the "Sandwich" - Something Nice - Area of Improvment - Antoher postive observation.
Perhaps soemthing like - "We really enjoyed our stay at xxx the location was great convenient to xxx. Check in was a little confusing, there were not enough towels provided, and the kitchen needs to be restocked with basics. xxx place woudl be ideal if you don't plan on cooking and eating your meals in the kitchen and dont' mind packing a few extra towels in case there are not enough. My favorite thing about the place was...
