same day reservation- urgent help needed

A potential guest made a reservation today for today for one night. I accepted the reservation but then I got a message saying that the guest has not paid and they have 24 hours to pay or the reservation will be cancelled. This does not help me since the reervation is for today. I wrote the guest and said I would not give them code to enter house (I have keyless entry) until I was sure they have paid, becuase obviously if they stay one night and never pay airbnb, I am out the money. How do I find out that airbnb has been paid. I know that I do not get paid until the following day, but I have never had this happen before.

One night stay at a last moment can be kind of scam as i heard this happening before. Call Airbnb directly!

Yes, call Airbnb. This sounds really suspicious. For the future, I would set your terms for no same day bookings.

Great idea. I started my listing with 

Block one day before and after each reservation

Once I got comfortable with hosting and cleaning the place, I removed that.

Better block a day before and after and remove it accordingly

You know when they have paid when you get a booking confirmation email. so yeah, dont give them the code until the booking is confirmed.
