Hi, we are hosting and have asked for a £600 security deposit in case of damange to the property. Whilst I know airbnb cover against damange, I was thinking this is a deterent for those staying and will cover us easily again small things, if someone where to steal a towel for instance. However, does anyone know if this depost is taken from the guests account before they arrive? or is it taken from the guests account after the stay if they have caused damange?
You'll definitely want to read through the hosting information in the help area. There is a lot of critical information (including the answer to your question) that you are missing there. The guest is not charged the deposit unless you file a claim.
Hi Ed, thanks, I will have a furthre read. That is what I thought the situatin was.
Hi @Maria63,
As @Ed-and-Hugh0 have already indicated, make sure you read the information as your statement, "I know airbnb cover against damage" is not true.
