This happens, @Gordon69.  Someone is new to the platform and wants to get going on a reservation so they start the process without the verification process completed.  Sometimes this is due to the time it takes for the Air BNB system to upload documents.  If you want you can message the newbie and state that you will consider approving once the verification process is complete, meanwhile could they provide more information about themselves and the reason for traveling.  Also, advise that you will decline within 12 hours if the verification is not complete.  If you are in a hot booking season and don't want to tie up your calendar, decline now.  Hope this helps!

Hello @Gordon69,

On the few occasions that this has happened to me with a reservation request I've asked the person to upload a photo and I've also messaged them with some questions about arrival time, whether they'll have a car etc.

I sent a message saying something like the one below. Of course add any specific concerns or requirements you may have to the list of questions.

They always uploaded a face photo and answered the questions in a friendly communicative way that gave me the confidence to accept the request.

If they did not upload or answer the questions or I was not happy with the tone or something else about the response I would decline the request.

Example message.

It would be great if you could upload a profile photo of yourself just so as I'll know to welcome you by name and that I'm handing the key to the person who booked.

Do you know yet about what time you'll arrive?

Will you arrive by car? If so just tell me and I'll move mine so that there'll be space for you to park in front of the house.

Steve.
