Why has Airbnb recently terminated the text notifications option? As a Super host I relied heavily on this notification to stay on top of my bookings, messages, enquiries, guests, etc. The Airbnb app would be okay if they allowed us to change the notification tone to something I can hear on my phone and set it to keep alerting me until I aknowledge that I have read the notification. Much like everyone's phone texting options right now. I wish they could bring this back or modify their alerts in their app.
Not sure what you're talking about. Nothing has changed for me. I still get double notifications for everything -- standard SMS texts and full-text notifications from the AirBnB app. Can you provide more details about what you're experiencing?
Same for me no more text notifications when an new inquiry comes in, I am not going to be able to keep my good rating response without this option... can you Airbnb respond to this please ??
I know! I missed three inquiries before I caught on!! Yikes!
I also stopped receiving text notifications back in November. Back and forth with airbnb support team for a month, suddenly they started up again.
I'm wondering if airbnb was trying one of their unannounced "experiments" to phase them out (saving $) and just waited to see how many of us would complain.
If you haven't already, write support team to report this and keep your case open until you start getting the text messages again.
There are other threads on this as well.
Also, I'm not sure what you mean about terminating the text message option. It is still there on my profile under account settings.
@Sarah977, I think what @Stella-and-Gordon0 is referring to is that a number of people have stopped receiving text notifications, so they *feel* like AirBnB has stopped supporting text notifications.
(Or "terminated the text notification option")
We stopped receiving text notifications ourselves for a short time... and then the text notifications suddenly started again. Not sure why.
I receive txt message notifications when someone inquires or books but I can not respond. Any idea why this is happening? People are not using the app and want to communicate via text and I'm loosing bookings. Thanks,
Maria, do you have the phone app downloaded to your phone? You can receive message alerts without it, but you can't respond.
If this is the case you need to download the Airbnb phone app to your phone to be able to respond to enquiries.
What is happening at the moment Maria, it is probable that you are getting a message alert on your phone but, that alert is coming from the generic side of the Airbnb program! The message will be incomplete and you can't respond to it! It is simply an alert that you need to respond to from your Airbnb profile, nothing else.
What you need to do is follow this link and download the appropriate app for your phone system, be it Android or Apple.
This link will take you to the official Airbnb app....
Make sure you allow the app to fully download and if the download should stop part way, delete it and download again.
Once you have dowloaded this app you will have almost full functionality on your phone. You will be able to perform most functions that you currently can on your computer by simply loggin in to the Airbnb site on your phone. You will be able to stay in full control of your listing no matter where you are. The only things you will not have access to is sensitive account information which you will still need your computer to access and change.
I hope this helps you.
Cheers.....Rob
@Maria1717, one possibility is that if you have your phone number registered with two (or more) different accounts, you'll be unable to reply via standard text (SMS) messages. This situation can arise, for example, if you once used a different AirBnB account than you now use (go back and delete the old one) or if, like me, you help a friend operate their AirBnB and have your number registered on their account as well.
Personally, I strongly prefer that my guests use only the AirBnB message system (app or website). That way there's always a record of both sides of the conversation, and AirBnB can examine that record if necessary.
Is there a way to change the time that you receive the text reminder notifications? I’m currently receiving my notifications at 6 in the morning. It would be nice if I could move that to later in the morning
Did you ever get an answer to this?
Mine stopped a few weeks ago so we might be in the same situation now. Are yours working again yet?
