third party review, about who?

Hi there. I recently booked  a place for a weekend on airbnb with some friends but at the end I couldn't make it. They did though, and since I made the reservation using my account what took shape was actually a third party reservation. Anyway, everything went well. Reportedly the place was nice and the host a kind person. Now, as a host myself I know the value of a deserved positive review but when as usual airbnb asked me to write one I didn't feel like I could, even if I would. Mine was not an excess of zeal, I simply didn't know whether I should write an inappropriate third party review or pretend to have been one of the guests and therefore writing in first person. So I didn't write any. End of the story, except the host has just left one to me. And now? I'd like to return but I clearly ignore if she wrote about me or left an "infamous" third party review. What would you do in my place? It might look like a futile issue, but the both of us being hosts makes things complicated. Thanx.

Hello @Giuseppe261. Why don't you ask the host? It's better than doing nothing. While Airbnb do not support third party bookings, there isn't real punishment for that to my knowledge.

We recently hosted 3rd party at short notice. There was a family emergency. The person who stayed was an airbnb member but could not book as we require government ID. So her son booked for her.

Anyway emergency over and they have moved on. The person who stayed was fine. So we decided to not to leave a review but have prepared a statement if the son leaves a review. This will say that mum stayed as a third party booking and was fine.

Why not leave a review that reflects what happened:

"I booked this Airbnb as a weekend getaway for myself and friends.  Due to a change in my schedule I ended up not being able to go but my friends went.  I'm aware that Airbnb does not support third party bookings however that was not my original intent.  The host graciously accomodated us despite this issue.  My friends told me the place was great and the host was very nice.  This Airbnb experience turned out positive for all of us."

ps if the host objects they can have Airbnb remove your review, since you did not stay.  However if the review is positive the host might be fine with it.
