AirCover Deducting Depreciation on a Repair directly due to a guest breaking a window

An airbnb guest broke a window (and admitted to it in writing) in a unit that we rent and airbnb. I submitted a claim for the repair of just the glass as the window itself was not replaced or improved in any way.The window was restored to exactly as it was prior to the guest breaking it. The Aircover supervisor is saying they will only reimburse $30 of the $150 repair as they are deducting 'depreciation'.

As I lease the unit I do not own the house or the window, how am I now forced to eat the cost of depreciation?

Has anyone else been having issues with this? It is extremely disappointing that Airbnb's AirCover policy doesn't cover direct damage caused by a guest.

@Morgan376. Yes. Unless the guest broke the window glass the day it was installed, Aircover work on its second hand value at time of damage. Its not a new for old/replacement of anything.

Under a rental agreement you are generally responsible for damage caused by yourself or anyone you let stay there too. This is the huge risk of sub letting as I dont know any insurance company that will cover you in this situation as they normally offer cover to the owner. As you clearly run a significant number of listings, maybe ask some experienced insurance brokerage firms. You need to go after the guest for any shortfall.
